The Smiddy has seen a few changes over the last couple of years, but as we change and adapt the way we manage The Smiddy, we continue to offer our usual friendly and personal service for all our customers and friends

Our restaurant and bar are now open Thursday - Sunday, and our successful 'Take Out' menu will continue to operate alongside our 'Eat In' menu.

About Us

In the 90's the Smiddy was converted from a blacksmiths to a village pub and in 2005 we took over ownership and developed The Smiddy into the bar and restaurant we see today.

Having a background in hospitality and hotel management, we came from managing a restaurant, bar and function suite of a prestigious Lawn Tennis Club in Yorkshire

to the idyllic setting of the Borders.

Here we have made Ashkirk our home.

The Smiddy, open all year round, being a perfect small country pub restaurant for you to enjoy a meal or drink when visiting the area with your family or friends.

Ashkirk is just off the A7 tourist route from Edinburgh to Carlisle, halfway between Hawick and the Royal Burgh of Selkirk.

Entering the village, you will find The Smiddy on the left.
